Our feelings lie to us. When you feel distant from God, it is a feeling. It is not truth. Romans 8:38 states that nothing can ever separate us from the love of God.

Not your fears
Not your failures
Not your broken relationships
Not the things you should have done but didn't
Nothing means nothing!
Nothing can separate you from the love of God. Even when you feel like you are wandering in the dark, God is right there. Even when you don't think God is listening to your prayers, He is. Even when you doubt God's goodness, He is still there loving you through it. Absolutely nothing can separate you from God's love!
Your image of God does not change the reality of God. He is love in its purest form!
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today or our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39 NLT)
